Overview
This document describes how to install
the IAPWS IF-97 add-in for Excel on a Windows PC running Excel 2007.
The IAPWS IF-97 add-in is an Excel 97 – 2003 format add-in file based on
the X Steam v2.6 workbooks by Magnus Holmgren (http://www.x-eng.com).
This add-in has been digitally signed with a self certified digital
signature. This digital signature will allow the add-in to function
under Excel’s high security mode if the proper configuration steps are
taken. You may also choose to reduce Excel’s security for add-ins and
bypass further Excel configuration. Both approaches are outlined below.
This Add-in will also work with earlier(Office 97 – 2003) versions of
Excel but the installation procedure will differ from the one documented
here. It has been tested with Excel 2003 and 2007 on PCs running
Windows XP Pro SP2.
Installing the Add-in
To install the add-in simply copy the
IAPWSIF-97Add-in.xla file to the Add-ins folder on your PC. This folder
is found within the Documents and Settings folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Application
Data\Microsoft\Add-ins
Where USER is the user name you use to
log on to the PC.
Once the add-in is installed, you can
choose to load it automatically or add it and remove it as needed by

macros you must either install and trust the add-in’s digital signature
or reduce Excel’s add-ins security level. The remaining steps show how

add-in will now be automatically loaded each time you start Excel until
or unless you clear its check box on the add-ins dialog box in step 3.
